Antique 19c 1832 18-volume FULL SET of Tales & Novels by Maria Edgeworth. Published by Baldwin & Cradock, London. Beautiful half leather and marbled books with marbled end papers, raised banded spine, and gilded top fore edges. Internally the pages are quite clean with some mild foxing mostly contained to the illustrated pages. Externally, the edges and leather show wear and some front boards have been professionally reinforced or glued back. Everything is holding tight and no loose pages or loose boards. Of course, as with all antique leather books, they shouldn’t be opened all the way. There are not many full sets floating around - Overall this is a very attractive good set!!
Maria Edgeworth (1768-1849), was an Anglo-Irish novelist of adult and children’s literature. She was the most successful living English novelist during the 1800-1814 period and one of Jane Austen’s most favorite writers.
