Galerie Theatrale hand-colored print from a limited edition of 90 circa 1873. This print came from fantastic limited print books that contained 144 hand-colored engravings of famous French actors from the 16th to the 19th centuries. They were originally interspersed with letterpress biographies and historical accounts of Parisian theaters and notable productions. Most engravings are adorned with gilt and silver. The colors are just stunning. Each engraving comes with the biography and the dealer sleeve with date authentication and information about the subject. Fantastic condition!
Subject: Lays, real name is Gerard. He was a dramatic singer that debuted at the Paris Opera House in 1816.
