Antique full leather partial set Secret Memoirs of the Courts of Europe from the 16th to 19th Century. What can I say - these books are stunning!! This is set 599 of 1000 made and includes Marie Antoinette, Margaret de Valois, and William II & Francis Joseph. Published in 1900 by George Barrie & Son, Philadelphia. These were probably specially bound because they are monogrammed on the covers (AWK) encircled by a laurel wreath. Each volume has a different crest embossed on the back covers. The gorgeous green, blue, and gold marbling endpapers, all gilded fore edges, and beautiful illustrations, sigh. Disclaimers: foxing to the tissue papers and some age darkening to pages as well as some wear to leather on spines.I wouldn’t remove the tissue papers though because they have printed details on them. Overall a very good to fine condition set!!
